Are shox back?
I know shox haven't been all that popular for the past 10 (15? 20?) years, but I, for one, am happy to see them getting some attention from the collaborators...
When I first moved to New York, the first pair of shoes I bought (in 2003) was a pair of those Black/Red & White R4 Shox from this spot called 'Lincolns' on 85th & 5th in Bay Ridge...I didn't know it at the time, but after wearing them a few times and comparing them to my pair of R4's I copped at an outlet, I realized that they were most likely fakes. They were just really, really, REALLY rigid. Not comfortable at all, even though they looked dope.
The first time I met my (now) wife, I was wearing those shox. And I wore the hell out of them. I owned probably 10-15 pairs of R4 Shox over the years...I just always liked the design. I remember seeing this dude wearing a pair on my trip to Europe in 2002 and I just remember thinking 'man, those look sleek'. So I copped a pair in Germany. And then a pair when I got back home. And then another pair when I moved to New York (above). I only own one pair that I wear now...I've got a real interesting sample pair, too...but as for all the other pairs...I think I was shamed into selling them a few years back (y'all know who those haters are)...
That Martine Rose pair looks really interesting...certainly not something I think I'd wear, but I love to see some life breathed into the silhouette. And to see a Supreme pair on the way, too? I dunno...it looks like a resurgence of Shox. How y'all feel about shox?
