I know some people revel in other peoples L's, especially when it comes to crypto, but I'm not really one of those people.
This dude, Franklin, is Twitter famous for having a pretty massive Bored Ape collection - last I saw he owned 60 Bored Apes and actually bought my Louie from me a couple of months back. I've never spoken with him, but have followed him on Twitter for a while now...he likes to post his flips and it can feel a bit glib at times...so it was kind of wild to read this...
The way I understand it...he was trying to show how he could flip any ENS name for a profit and then he found himself quickly outsmarted...
(note: WETH is basically the same as ETH for the purposes of this summary)
He basically minted a smartass ENS: 'stop-doing-fake-bids-its-honestly-lame-my-guy.eth' then placed a 100 WETH (~$150k) bid on it through a different wallet (in order to trigger a tweetbot). Someone then offered him 1.89 ETH (~$3.5k) for the domain, and he accepted it with a quickness...so quick, in fact, that he forgot to cancel his 100 WETH offer on the same domain.
Franklin THEN went out and tweeted to his followers about how he made 1.89 ETH on an instantaneous flip before realizing the mistake.
So the guy who bought it for 1.89 ETH, turned around and immediately accepted the 100 WETH offer.
Franklin got his 1.89 ETH for the domain, but gave up the 100 WETH at the same time...knowing how many Apes Franklin has, it doesn't look like it'd even make a difference to him, but it does pay to be humble in this market...
