Back in the day when I collected baseball cards, there was this dude that used to advertise HEAVY in every single issue. As a 7 or 8 year old, looking at his advertisements...it appeared that he was a god amongst men...basically the worlds biggest (or at least the best marketed) sports card dealer...

Now, I don't know if this guy...'Alan 'Mr. Mint' Rosen' is that dude from the advertisements, but he *definitely* reminds me of him.

But this dude from the advertisments - he had this massive shop in LV or LA and it was 3 or 4 floors of nothing but cards and I always thought...'man, some day I'm gonna be rich and I'm going to go there and I'm going to buy all of the Will Clarks and Kevin Mitchells and Matt Williams cards in the world!"

And then...I don't know what happened. Either I stopped paying attention or stopped buying becketts or stopped collecting or...I don't know what happpened.

He definitely slipped my mind for a long time...and only recently resurfaced. I don't totally know why...but he's starting to remind me of someone in sneakers. I'm not saying no names, but I think we all know someone like him. All about the wheeling and dealing. And I've met people like him in *every* culture.

I don't suppose this is much of a 'discussion' post...more of just a trip down memory lane. If anyone knows what happened to that dude from the old Becketts, I'd love to know more.
