NFT Sundays!
Not sure if any of y'all old heads saw that @mount_westmore video from a few months back, but it was dope. @snoopdogg , @icecube , @e40 and @tooshort did not disappoint (with the music), and definitely brought the heat for OG fans (like myself), but it appears that their release mechanism was actually pretty disappointing.
It looks like they released their album through @gogalamusic as NFTs...and...yea...I'm in on NFTs as a concept, but the release metrics for this album just made no sense whatsoever. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but it looks like they're asking for around $700 PER SONG. Which...I dunno...does not seem all that accessible for most people. Especially in this particular customer base.
I'm 42 years old...what I'ma look like paying $10k for a goddam album?
The thing is, though, I can see how something like this could be really beneficial. Like...imagine the hottest musician out right now...I dunno who that'd be...but if they released 1000 copies of each track for $1000 and implemented a royalty mechanism for owners of the tracks - it could turn out to be a very lucrative idea...but in this particular case...yea. Deaf ears.
Anyway, all of this to say - a lot of this stuff is still experimental. If your first shot didn't go that well, just know there are going to be millions of different ways to get it done...I'm looking forward to hearing this album in full once it makes its way out of the $700/range lol
