I know, I know, old news.
But IDGAF, it's still relevant.
Could you imagine putting a bunch of effort into creating something and watching some massive corporation turn around and monetize the hell out of it - without giving you any credit whatsoever? Shouts to @doctorfunksgallery for keeping his head about it. I would have flipped out.
I know plenty creators in the sneaker space been dealing with this type of stuff for YEARS. Not even a shoutout from the brands...at the end of the day - the corporation we're all clamoring over - they're exploiting the most creative of us (in the space). It's all just free work.
When I was a web developer, they used to pull us into interviews and give us 'code tests', in which they'd ask us to submit our code for a 'project', to see whether or not we were capable of the work at hand. After the first few, I stopped. I realized I was doing 8+ hours of 'free work' and rarely, if ever, got the call back. Maybe I was just a terrible coder, or maybe they were just exploiting me. It certainly felt like the latter. I can imagine that this is what some of this might feel like...
How much different would these corporations be if they implemented some kind of crowdsourced method of talent recruitement?
