It's really hard to underestimate (or to even estimate, for that matter) the impact that 2pac had on the Grant Hill 2 when his album 'All Eyez on Me' released...
Thing was, Pac was on top of the world, at the time, and this simple photo (the centerfold of the liner notes) cemented the legacy of this shoe well beyond whatever Grant Hill actually DID on the court (in this shoe), IMO...don't get me wrong... @therealgranthill was a problem, but I know a lot of people who owned this shoe and I know they owned it for the 'Pac association over the GH association. And remember - this was simply MY experience. It might not be indicative of THE experience. So this is all my opinion.
But...could you imagine if you were a @filausa advertiser at the time? I wonder if they even knew that 'Pac's simple endorsement of this shoe raised awareness of it beyond whatever they could have done with these massive (or maybe not so massive) marketing budgets...
I owned a pair. I think my mom got them for me for my 10th grade year (ONE pair of shoes for the whole year)...and I got them cuz of 'pac, not GH...
