Was thinking about this the other day...about how there are certain attributes on certain shoes that just make me say 'yeah, no.'
There's this line in an old Makaveli (2pac) song where Young Noble kicks off his verse with 'Your style wack as ever, like you was rockin' patent leather...' and 20+ years later, I simply can't get the line out of my head. Ever. Every time I see patent leather on sneakers, that line just pops up.
"Wack as ever...
...Patent leather."
That doesn't mean I haven't owned XI's, it just means that I never really liked patent leather. I wouldn't say it's prevented me from caring about XI's (which I never really liked), but it's definitely strengthened the case for me. I just *don't like patent leather. Looking at my whole collection behind me...I dunno...a couple hundred pairs...I don't see a single shoe with patent leather on it...there might be a swoosh or two with patent, but I don't see 'em...
So yeah, patent leather, for me, is an immediate 'no from me dog.'
