With the seemingly endless array of Air Jordan 1 OG High Retro colorways, a sleeper dropped the other day that you might not have seen. Nicknamed the ‘Exit Sign 1’s’ by Jordan Brand colorway designers, this pair pokes fun at a minor MJ-style gaffe that occurred shortly into his rookie year.
On his way to the Chicago stadium, Jordan was distracted by a young woman in the outside lane and attempted to impress her by taking an ‘important call’ on his newly installed Motorola DynaTAC car phone - phone records show no actual calls exist. As a consequence, MJ didn’t get her number, missed the exit entirely, showed up to the warm-ups 16 minutes late and shot a measly 28% from the field. Jordan later relayed the story to veteran Dave Corzine, who eventually told the rest of the squad.
Good news is, you don’t have to miss out on anything as the Exit Sign 1’s are still available at retail and will likely hit sales racks soon!
