"What many people didn't know was that I also had a passion for acting. So when the opportunity arose for me to play the role of "Sam Wheat" in the movie "Ghost," I jumped at the chance.
As I delved deeper into the character of Sam, I became entrenched in the art of pottery. As you know, In the movie, Sam is a banker who takes pottery classes as a hobby. I spent hours on set learning the craft and putting my 'potters touch' to everything. I found that the discipline and focus required for pottery mirrored the same mindset I had on the basketball court. I also found that the creative outlet helped me to relax and forget about the pressures of the sport.
Off-screen, I began taking pottery classes in my free time and even set up a pottery studio in my home. Years later, when I retired from basketball, I opened a pottery studio, where I taught the craft to people of all ages. I had found a new passion that gave me the same sense of accomplishment and fulfillment that basketball had given me. Now I had (another gift) I could share with the world."
